
We conduct regular Workshops throughout the year
Our demonstrators & tutors are international, interstate and local artists who are experts in their chosen medium. Workshops usually run over 1, 2 or 3 days and are a wonderful way to improve your skills and well worth the investment of your time.
How to Book
For most workshops, this is a 2-Step process.
STEP 1. Fill out the relevant workshop Registration Form & remember to click on the Submit button for your registration to go through.
STEP 2. Pay online for the relevant workshop by selecting either the ‘Member’ or Non-member’ option from the drop-down box. Then click on the ‘Add to cart’ button for that workshop and go through the secure payment process.
Places will only be held once fees are paid.
Workshop Payments & Refund Policy
When enrolling in a PSVA Workshop we require full payment. Please note that $50.00 of the Workshop fee is non-refundable. The balance of the fee will be refunded if you cancel at least 7 days prior to the Workshop, but only if your place is filled.

The Workshop Coordinator, in consultation with the President and/or Treasurer, has the discretion to alter the above policy should extenuating circumstances apply.

Dynamic Still Life & Landscapes

Maxwell Wilks is a dynamic and engaging presenter with a great sense of humour, making his workshops both informative and enjoyable. His individual style stands out, characterised by unique mark-making techniques and a vibrant use of colour. This approach gives his artwork a distinctive, energetic feel that inspires creativity in his students, encouraging them to explore their own artistic expression.
Venue : Ferntree Community Arts Centre, 1010 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully VIC 3156
Day 1
Max will give a demonstration of still life painting using flowers and various objects. Students will then choose their own still life to paint, with Max bringing in subject matter for them to work from. Throughout the day, he will offer individual assistance as students work, and the day will conclude with a group discussion about their progress.
Day 2
Max will focus on landscape painting, demonstrating techniques and discussing important aspects such as understanding colour. He will provide reference materials for each student to paint their own landscape, offering help and guidance as needed. The day will end with a final discussion of the students’ work.

Paint Away | Retreat

Christine Broersen has won many awards for her detailed realist paintings. She will be providing lots of helpful hints so that all levels of experience are catered for.
Venue : Christine Broersen’s studio in Shepparton VIC.
Participants will be sent address details once Registration & Payment is made.
Christine Broersen has been working primarily in pastels for over 30 years and is known for her realistic still life and portrait works, for which she has won many awards.
Her works are inspired by everyday objects, thrift shop finds, and floral arrangements.
Christine holds Signature status with the Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia (PSVA) where she has been a member for the past 18 years.
This workshop is suitable for artist of all levels. Christine will be covering the importance of proportions and using negative space when creating a portrait, to ensure you capture the likeness. Christine will be providing lots of helpful hints so that all levels of experience are catered for.
This workshop will be held in Christine’s Shepparton Studio. Lunch and refreshments will be provided & Christine will provide the art supplies required for the workshop.
