Sharon Martin
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Sharon moved to Melbourne in the early 2000’s. She is a painter who is inspired by the natural world and fascinated by the human condition.
She has always drawn and painted and has been inspired by many great artists from the past and present, including Rembrandt, the Australian & French Impressionists, the Russian School, Arcenio Martin Campos & Carlo Ferrari. She has travelled extensively, sailed across oceans on small yachts & lived in the French Alps for a number of years. She has a great love of & respect for nature. Sharon enjoys life drawing, painting Portraits, Landscapes and Still Life. Mood, composition, colour, light are her first considerations when starting a painting.
Sharon has won a number of awards for her painting and design skills, including Best in Show with Whitehorse Art Society, Highly Commended at The Victorian Artists’ Society, Runner-up Best in Show with the Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia and Best Charcoal Drawing in the Kenneth Jack Memorial Drawing Prize with the Australian Guild of Realist Artists.
She is a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and an Honorary Life member of the Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia.
Sharon loves colour and the act of painting itself. She finds it such a rewarding process because painting challenges one’s way of thinking. But it’s in the truth of expression and the beauty she finds in her subjects, that are most important.
