Michelle Hendrie
Michelle is an Emerging artist who comes from a talented family of craftspeople and over the years has dabbled in many crafts including embroidery, quilling, cake decorating and calligraphy. Unfortunately in 2015, while working as a management consultant, Michelle was hit from behind while cycling with a friend and her extensive injuries meant that she was unable to continue working so she took a medical retirement.
A couple of years after this, while looking for ways to fill her days, a friend suggested that she take a pastels class with Linda Finch at the Camberwell Community Centre. It was a real lightbulb moment as she not only found that working with pastels was fairly easy on her body, she found she actually had a talent for it!
Since then Michelle has never looked back and now has a light filled studio dedicated to her painting set up in her beautifully renovated Victorian house. She especially enjoys painting her friend’s animals and treasures every one she is asked to do. Michelle paints for the enjoyment and all proceeds from her work is donated to the RSPCA or other animal rescue groups. Her paintings have been sent to friends around the world and are greatly cherished.
