Catherine Hamilton

Catherine was born in Surrey, UK in 1957. She studied Fine Art and Print Making at The Epsom School of Art in Surrey and Life Drawing at The Chelsea School of Art in London.

Although now living in Australia, during her time in the UK, Catherine had the opportunity to work as a student of renowned UK portrait artist Ken Paine.

Catherine has been painting professionally for over 20 years and for much of that time has been teaching. She now travels throughout Australia conducting workshops to various art groups and societies.

Many of Catherine’s works are portraits and of the human form and she has a passion for painting still life. Catherine has gained recognition for her portraits and has won many awards. She held a solo portrait show in May 2004 and Robert Wade, who opened the exhibition, is quoted as saying, “This is one of the most exciting shows I have seen in many years”.

Catherine is a Past-President of The Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia, having served 2 terms (4 years 2005-2009) consecutively by popular demand. She is a member of The Federation of British Artists, The Australian Guild of Realist Artists and the McClelland Guild of Artists.

Catherine has exhibited extensively in the UK and Australia and has been represented by numerous galleries.
