  • Janette Garbuio - Storm Over the Dandenongs

I have been painting for over 40 years and learned traditional tonal oil, watercolour and pastel techniqueswith various classic art teachers. In 1998 received my Diploma of Fine Arts from Dandenong Tafe .

My love of en plein air painting made me travel throughout Australia and oversea to Italy, England and France to capture the light and views. My works over the years have received awards the latest 2020 the Pastel Plein Air “Down Under” Mandurah WA , PSV Award from the Pastel Art society 2019 and Highly commented for the McCubbin award at Sherbrooke Art Society 2018.  An invitation to exhibit in Bologna Italy lead me to form the Paesano painting Tours where I organize painting trips to Italy since 2006.

Presently I am a member of the The Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia and Watercolour Society of Victoria and other various societies.  My works of art can be found in private homes, corporate and overseas.

Personal Objectives
During the years of learning and studying Art I have wished to follow my desire to develop in all areas such as oil, pastel, drawing and watercolour in order to gain a full meaning of art. I wanted to travel and personally view the fine arts in other countries and culture.  My personal ambition is to create visual impact that will not diminish with age and explore all the mediums available to enhance my art.

After bring up a family, working full time I now feel that I can focus on my ambition and look forward to an exciting period in my life and all the years before were a preparation for this to happen.  I especially love to paint Plein Aire with my mediums.
